how could anyone be so mistaken?
Manchester has an utterly unblievable track record for producing amazing music:
The Buzzcocks
The Charlatans UK
Doves
Inspiral Carpets
Joy Division/New Order
Oasis
The Smiths/Morrissey
Stone Roses/Ian Brown
and probably more icant think of. i'll go on more later.

considering its one of the larger cities, in a country that has produced some of the biggest names in music the last 50 years, that list you have there isnt all that impressive.
do over

There're not from Liverpool? Damnit, they remind me of some group from Liverpool...can't quite remember the name though.

right, but are The Verve actually from Manchester? iknow theyre northern and hav strong ties to the city, but ithought they were from some other smaller town up there- iknow Ashcroft wasnt born in Manchester at least. or is it like living in Barrie, ON means nothing to anyone so you juste say Toronto?

come up with a better list for a city that isnt London or New York. the only that spring to mind that would give Manchester a run for its money are Seattle and to a lesser degree (not necesarily less talent, but certainly less recognition) Toronto and Montreal- and these lists dont really come close.
