Incubus and Bass Player Choices.

So "A Crow Left of the Murder", what a huge disappointment for me. I've been following this band since their first ep, I've seen them every time they've been in Toronto, I'm big fan. One of the main reasons being that they WERE a amazing at blending genres seamlessly. So they get rid of Dirk, I'm a little put off because he's was really good. But then I hear about Ben Kenney, I'm thinking 2 black guys, the funkiness is gonna go up huge, then they put out their most "Rock" album ever, with a bass player that is no where near as good as their old one. I mean kick out a guy if he's an asshoe but at least replace him with someone as good or better, I mean can they even play redefine or glass anymore? They better do better on the next one or they are gonna lose me.

Well, it's always tough when a favorite artist goes through a line-up change. (Especially someone as important as a bass player) You don't know how it's going to turn out. A lot of the time the album ends up growing on you, sometimes not.

The good side is that they are changing and progressing, even if it's not in a direction you'd like to see. I think that any kind of change in direction leads to longevity in a band. You may have to wait for an album or two, but hopefully they'll hit on something new down the road that you like..
