Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal

This is a band that has shown absolutely NO musical progression over their 7-8 odd releases (dunno... who's counting anyway), and have over their career have come up with the sum total of ONE riff. Every fucking one of their songs is based on this one riff with small variations and maybe a melodic lead thrown in for variety.

But then dm isn't really a genre that demands change. And, BT like Vader on their new album are still at the top of their game. 'The Killchain' and the title track may be my favs. at the moment.

Are you really giving a 6.5, after that hilarious review? What would they have to have had to come up with, to get a 1-5, a quarter to half Riff?

Well... that riff is pretty good. I'd prefer them over a bands like Necrophagist or Capharnaum which pack 10 riffs into 30 secs... because Bolt Thrower are actually entertaining.

EDIT: hmmm... on second thought, it probably deserves only a 5 or so.

I've been listening to this album a lot lately... Granite Wall... Anti-Tank.... dunno what it is about this band but it really defines

for me.
