Favorite 3 Jazz Musicians For Each Instrument

As the title says, do as many instruments as you want. I don't really know my stuff well enough to make a list, it'd be pretty by the books and predictable if I did. I want to see what you guys come up with.

3? You must be nuts.

Seriously, what's wrong with predictable and by the books? Good is good. Besides, since we only get 3, they'd better count.

Anyway, here's a start, I'll add more later. Nice and predictable.

Now, the real trick will be, if Satch is able to limit himself to 3.

Piano (Acoustic): Bill Evans, Cecil Taylor, Thelonious Monk
Piano (Electric): Sun Ra, Paul Bley, Keith Jarrett
Bass: Scott LaFaro, Charles Mingus, Dave Holland
Flute: Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Eric Dolphy, Henry Threadgill
Guitar: Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Sonny Sharrock
Drums: Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, Rashied Ali
Sax (Tenor): Coleman Hawkins, John Coltrane, Rahsaan Roland Kirk
Trumpet: Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis

I'll do more later.

What's the problem? Oh, I see, you must not like those musicians anymore.

First off, I agree with that very much, "Good is good." Something I think about a lot, when people complain about predictable lists. Second, I suppose I will make a list. Now that I think about it, it was also that I don't really have three musicians for each instrument whose style I've really pinpointed enough to consider them a favorite of mine. Anyway, I'm working on Euro right now, when I feel like taking a break I'll make a list. As for only three being nuts, I'm not the one who once made a thread asking for a single favorite live jazz album.

I think he may have been complaining about the order, but who knows.
