New Ryoji Ikeda Album

Have heard a few rumors about a new Ryoji album. Does anyone know anything about it? I think it has just been released but I am not sure. Has anyone heard it yet?

yes. It's called Dataplex and it's on Raster-Noton. A lot of raw data went into making this album and I believe I know the software/product that he used to create it. I have it somewhere on my comp but it's at home. Check out the raster-noton site at www.raster-noton.de

Great album. My top contender right now.

...it's the first in a series which he labels 'Datamatics'

I believe DataDada is what he used to make this album, but I could be wrong.

Stamped #1 in my book this year. This is definite.

(just because i feel this is the best album of the year, doesn't necessarily mean that it will be enjoyed by many. I just find the creativity and the arrangement of the pieces to be 'the best' of the year.)

Thanks for the info! Have been a fan of Ryoji's work for a long time now so I am sure I will be in love with Dataplex. I am about to order it now...

well, it's definitely more like his work with Dumb Type rather than 'Matrix' or anything like that. You still have the random data/frequency sounds, but they're organized in a way that just make you groove! Hope you enjoy it.

this album is fucking incredible, textures are simply superb, indeed a major candidate for album of the year.

for someone that's not really into 'experimental' music, it probably would sound like noise to you. Perhaps, it is just 'noise', but many of us see it as something different
