Hip-Hop / Rap Masterpiece Albums
Okay, I was recently being a smart-ass in one of the rock threads and I began to feel the lack of hip-hop in my creepy panopticon of musical luminaries (CD collection).
I was thinking of starting a thread.
Now, please try and rise above your own personal tastes to some degree and list albums that are solid ALL THE WAY from start to finish. No filler or weak songs.
Even Fear of a Black Planet has tunes that I often skip, though it's one of my favorites. Chuck D is great. His side-kick I can live without.
I need some knowledge dropped and I'm sure some others would appreciate it as well.
If this has been done already, just post the links. I did some cursory examination of most of the previous threads.
Obviously, for me, the weirder the better.

First off, Fear of a Black Planet isn't P.E.'s masterpiece. That would be, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.
A few more.
N.W.A. - Straight outta Compton
Ice Cube - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
Ice T - Original Gangsta
2Pac - Me against the World
Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Snoop Dog - Doggystyle
Nas - Illmatic
Boogie Down Productions - By All Means Necessary
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Eric B. & Rakim - Paid in Full
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Run-D.M.C. - King of Rock
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Yes, Satchmo is old school

Thanks guys.
Yes, I remember bringing the ruckus myself on this board a couple of times.
Straight Outta Compton was the first rap album I owned when I was a kid.
I have trouble keeping up with all the new stuff in any genre.

Great choices there Satchmo,
If you want some newer Rap Dr. Dre's The Chronic 2001 had a lot of good tracks on it
Smif N' Wessun - Da Shinin, has some INCREDIBLE beatwork that makes it 1 of my personal favorites and a great album too. Very Lofi and awesome, great if your looking for something different
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul is incredible and Prince Paul is such an awesome producer too that he really takes this album to another level.
Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-tek - Reflection Eternal, another modern day rap classic
The Soundbombing collection of albums from Rawkus records are great stuff if your looking for newer stuff
heres another thread if your looking for more: http://www.radiomute.com/6967-best-rappers-albums.html
hope this helps

What I listen to from start to finish :
Guru - Jazzmatazz vol 1 (this is a well known classic).
Edan - Beauty And The Beat (not well known, probably not considered a classic. But it`s great in my ears).
Might be a classic :
Gangstarr - Moment of Truth (has some fillers, but also some of the greatest, and I think it`s considered Gangstarr`s best).
I also agree Chronic 2001 is solid from beginning to end, even though I don`t own it. Got too much play the year it was released.
Looking to pick up Nas, but his second album that is.

It's Dark and Hell is Hot - DMX (This is why DMX's fall off has been so terrible, I used to think he was the shit.)
