On topic: Isn't Queen's music cheesy enough as it is?

Vanilla just played in Buffalo (well, Angola actually). I tried to free up some time to go, but I just couldn't. Was really bummed out that I had to miss him, though.

Well, they were the first band I ever listened to at length when I was kid, so it's difficult to consider to their music objectively. That said, I never was into their '80s material.

I think panbient beat you to this one.

I started checking them out when I was in junior high. Some it it was cool, a lot of it bored me.

Then Wayne's World came out and I sort of reached my saturation point with Queen.

Nothing wrong with a little cheese. I'm saying it was just cheesy enough. Any meddling about with the tunes just might upset its delicate balance.

Well, one day I carefully surveyed my music collection. I was like: Mahler, check! Mingus, check! Morty Feldman, check!

Dammit! I've earned the right to partake in a little bad taste once and a while!

I think the jazz & blues influences were mixed in after the fact. I guess I can see some validity in the funk claim. More like this, though: Funk to Disco to Hip Hop.

I recently heard a sample from Brahm's violin concerto in an R&B tune that came out earlier this year. This doesn't mean that R&B came from Classical music.

Blues to R&B to Funk to Rap.

So....you're saying it was Richard Starkey, who started it all?

It's still rock n' roll to Billy Joel.
