Too Rolling Stoned
No, this isn't a Robin Trower thread
Some of you may have heard, that hot on the heels of the "well, at least I'm not dead yet" performance by that guy who was once actually great, the Super Bowl is digging back into the well of safe choices and asked the Rolling Stones to appear at halftime during the Super Bowl. My guess is that they'll probably leave "Brown Sugar" and "Sympathy For the Devil" off the playlist. No truth to the rumor that the phone just rang at David Crosby's house regarding the NEXT Super Bowl.

How many Superbowls have the Stones appeared in? Who owns the title of most Superbowl performances?
I have no answers, just questions.

I couldn't tell you. Only these in last few years have we been in such food coma by halftime that we actually let the show play instead of finding something more interesting to do. I must be getting old
I do know, that for the second year in a row, my nephews and nieces will be begging for us to change the channel. This time, we will probably oblige

Satchmo always ready with the answers....
Up For People with 4 performances, holds the record for the most
Second place is a 3-way tie between Justin "Hey, what you hiding under that top" Timberlake, Janet "Costume Malfunction" Jackson, and her brother Michael "Let me grab my and possibly your son's crotch" Jackson. Each of them have performed twice.

the half-time show should just be an old man in a recliner talking about how things were better in the old days.
then, if he wanted to, he could call the rest of the game off.

Frankly, I was hoping for Ornette Coleman. You know, get the crowd pumped up with some "Lonely Woman."

May as well bring out Cecil Taylor for a duet while we're at it.

I didn't have a problem with Macca last year but this has gone too far now. I'm not as much mad at the Stones as the NFL for continueing to get stupider with there halftime show celebrations.
In the end it won't matter though because all the while the commercials have been growing stronger, smarter and faster than ever. This year they may actually consume the entire Super Bowl like a big pizza pie. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE STOP THE COMMERCIALS!!!!!
