Dennis Chambers...
is it just me, or does he seem like a superhuman drummer? Please discuss.

Dennis Chambers is insane. One of the best that's for sure. He's got the economy of motion thing down.
I really enjoy his work with Niacin, in fact the DVD they put out years ago really shows off his stuff. He's ripping up a solo and chewing gum at the same time. Like, yeah, no big deal.
I also like his work with Mike Stern and the album,"Uncle Moe's Space Ranch," with Brett Garsed/T.J. Helmerich/Gary Willis/Scott Kinsey.
The most insane stuff from him that I've heard though is his stuff with John McLaughlin. The Heart of Things - Live in Paris.
Where did Dennis get his start? Was he another of Mile's guys?

One of my drum teacher's favorite drummers. I believe he got his start with P-Funk when he was a mere 16 or so years old. I haven't really listened to anything with him, I need to check some of it out. I'll take a listen to what mpittman posted.

He was playing in nightclubs at 6 and joined Parliament & Funkadelic when he was 18.
While not on the level of Tony Williams who was bringing it with Sam Rivers and Jackie Mclean at 16, Chamblers has skilz.
Ornette's son Denardo was 10 when he played on his dad's Blue Note recording, The Empty Foxholes. In the liner notes, Ornette says his son could have recorded when he was 9.

didn't T.S. Monk play drums on some of his father's recordings, or am I mistaken?

He was around 21, when he first played with his father. He toured off and on with his father from 1970-72. Never recorded on any of his father's records.

Denardo was great at the Ornette concert, having heard nothing of him previously I thought he might just be average but got to play because he was a relative. I'm ashamed for having thought so, he was fantastic.
