While I and I would agree with that statement, I and I would also say that if the one could make loads of cash by doing the exact same thing as BEP, wouldn't the one be tempted? Be honest.

I and I would also agree with panbient, stefani did have talent in the heyday of No Doubt. Tragic Kingdom, 1994. If any one is out there and hasn't heard it, I and I would suggest that the one hears it.

Oh and selloutsuck, let's be honest, what mainstream band hasn't whored out to the media? I and I really doubt that there isn't a single mainstream band that the one likes. While the underground does rock, and hard, some mainstream bands still kick ass. RBF and Sublime being good exampoles of Ska, and t=bands like U2, coldplay etc in stadium rock.

Rasta Digger, i'm not saying they're sellouts, i'm saying BEP's music has a low quality in lyrics and notes.

I think the lyrics of this song are brilliant. As an example check out this mindblowing excerpt:

"My hump my hump my hump my hump my hump my hump
My hump my hump my hump my hump my lovely lady lumps
My lovely lady lumps my lovely lady lumps "

Utter brilliance.

In my book, sex appeal goes in the same category as booze, drugs, and gambling. All of them take advantage of human willpower... and very rarely have good outcomes.

Your definition of "valid" must mean "legal".

I couldn't have disagreed more with your materialistic post.

That post was 90% tounge-in-cheek but...

As far as popular music goes, Sex Appeal is just another part of the formula, and a vital one to many "performers" careers. You're right though, valid probably isn't the best word to describe what I meant, but at the same time, sex appeal is unfortunately a desired part of modern society, unlike alchohalism, drug/gambling addictions and the like.

Maybe sex appeal will lose its place in the popular music industry, as drugs and alchohal has done in the past 20 years for the most part but I would hardly put in along the lines that you have.

the whole issue of the materialistic sex appeal 'coming back' is foolish. it never left. the only change is that with all the idiot young people bringing back the 80s it's becoming a hell of a lot more blatant. it seems the more i watch tv the more it seems that sexual empowerment for women revolves around dressing like a whore.

thanks for bringing back the 80s ideals kids. our culture really did need to get fucked in the face

I saw the video for this one morning while spinning the dial, and thought it was a joke for a minute--someone making fun of another song I'd not heard, in Weird Al Yankovic style.

I then figured out it wasn't INTENDED as a joke.

But it was still funny.

If Elvis was not sold on his sex appeal but only his music, he would have still made great music with less fans. I think the same thing goes for the other groups as well.

Pretend that those bands didn't ever make TV appearances... all you have is less fans that came there to see him "swing his hips". If anything, sex appeal is only a step towards becoming more pop because of the mindless fanbase.

The list goes on.... and on... and on...

Whether or not you agree with me, I don't think its hard to grasp that sex appeal has taken advantage of most of the music consumers today. It's not hard to create a catchy tune... all you need is someone for that 13 year old boy/girl to worship because of her plentiful bossoms.
