I know this thread is already extremely long, but I just have to put something in =)
All of those industrial bands from the mid nineties for the most part sound the same, and it feels as though there's not much to work on in terms of fresh sounds.
Some bands that weren't mentioned that I came across:
Kevorkian Death Cycle (more of a leaether strip type feel)
Oneroid Psychosis (very dreamy)
Hanzel Und Greytle (harder industrial)
Armageddon Dildoes(heh, grungy industrial)
As for NIN, the DVD does Trent no justice. If you want to see a good live performance, check out Woodstock '94(if you haven't already).
Can anyone tell me how I can put a picture by my name?
thanks =)

well Gridlocks album "the synthetic form" was basically an industrial album from what i've heard, but "Further" and "Trace" (my recommendation) branches out of that sound onto sort of an IDM'ish base...and Converter, I wouldn't say that's IDM by any means..."Shock Front" is hard as hell...
