As for Gwen Stefani I agree with her being a better artist with No Doubt but I'll never have a problem seeing her in a rap video.
Gwen Stefani dancing for no other reason then making Pharell happy > Gwen Stefani jet skiing, getting married, or killing her bandmates one by one.

i turned my back on most commercially successful artists a long time ago but there are many artists who will renew your faith in hiphop. you just need to scratch below the surface. there are still people rapping about real issues and who show intelligence. i really feel sad when i see the dominance of some of the crap coming out of the south. its really painful

In Australia, initially the hip hop scene was awesome, everyone rapping in their own accents, about meaningful shit. Hilltop Hoods, Downsyde etc, all made some fuckin awesome tracks. But aussie hip hop has since been swallowed up by the masses, and now we have aussies on the top40 rapping about bitchs and hoes in fake american accents, with beats that remind me of Snoop Dogg.
Scrape away the shit off the top though, and there is still gold underneath, in the underground. Shit you dont hear on the radio. Same thing for hip hop everywhere. If you judge hip hop by what you hear on the radio, then your always going to hate it.
