I do agree that when you have a favorite artist from a label, you generally pay more attention to that label because they may have something that you may like.

but for me, a lot of times, I only like one or 2 artists on a label and that's about it, specially those labels who would put out different styles of electronic music. but I always keep an eye out for good stuff.

yeah, I tend to pick a label out, take a listen to all the artists and pick and choose...I haven't found a label that I like all of the artists...probably won't ever

Mille Plateaux, I only have one album from this band called Sidewinder which is a heavy-percussion minimal techno kinda thing.

I thought Kid606 has his own label, tigerbeat... anyway, how is vladislav delay? I heard of his name a lot too.

well, Vladislav has another name he goes by, and its called "Luomo"...check it out, heard it was good, I haven't really heard much of Vladislav's stuff, but it goes highly recommended by peers...and yes, Kid606 has his own record label, tigerbeat, but he's also put albums out on Violent Turd, Ipecac, and others...that's how people get their word out...they use different labels, rather than sticking to the same label, because 1) that label might not have the proper funds to supply an excessive releasing of albums, and 2) as I've said in the past, some people tend to like certain labels, and if you just stick to one label, someone might never hear of you...maybe my answers are just biased on the way I feel, but that's just me...

and getting back to the Mille Plateaux...yes, I've noticed that its more of a minimal, glitchy type label...

Labels tend to have their own characteristics, such as Ninja Tune (hip hop and jazzy), Zod (which is hardcore electronic mayhem), Schematic (Glitch-hop audio frequencies hehe) and Mille Plateaux (glitchy minimalism)

what you said about artists on different labels made sense to me. especially smaller labels, it takes a while to make their money back on certain releases. so before that, they are probably short on cash to release more music even though they got bunch of good stuff lining up to get presssed.

who is on schematic? heard of the name somewhere before...

About the 1000 Plateaux sub-thread, i absolutely recommand you "Transformation&Modulation vol4.". It's a killer introduction to many many many bands from the label. I can't remember how many good leads it gave me to hitertho unknown musical territories. few examples : Phillus (1/2 of Pan Sonic), Lithops (related to Mouse on Mars), Gas (Reinhardt voigt), Andy Mellwig (1/2 of Porter Ricks), Thomas Köner. i still enjoy it after 3 years, which is a lot for an electronic compilation ! it doest seem to date
