Why is that a rip-off to the record buyers? Does the songs on their CD all of a sudden sound different because you think a differend face sang the songs? I think a rip-off to the record buyers would be if the CD you bought had a different singer than the versions of the songs you heard on the radio or on MTV... but not this. In this case the music you bought sounds exactly like what you heard... isn't it about the SOUND of the music? What if a singer joined the group AFTER the CD was recorded already so she is not on it for that reason? What about all the studio musicians, producers, writers and backup vocalists who perform on the CD that you never get to see? What is the difference as long as you like the music?
