You might be mixing up mariachi music with *ranchero* music. The oompa-mexican accordion polka style stuff...? Is that what you're hearing? If so, that's ranchero, not mariachi.
I have to admit I'm not really a huge fan of ranchero music either... mariachi is a little more traditional, more trumpets, guitars, violins, marimbas... no accordions. It may not be your cup of tea either... dunno, but I like mariachi music quite a bit.

I really don't know much about mariachi or ranchero music. but when those mexican dudes crank up the treble in their cars/homestereos whatever, whatever they are listening to, it is gonna be annoying.
I personally like Tuvan throat singing.
I just remember I have 3 dollars credit at illegal art. I will make use of that soon.
edit: have you heard any of my tracks? if you have the time, give them a chance and give me some feedback. thanks.

I love Tuvan throat singing. Very VERY cool stuff, IMHO.
This other stuff, didn't know if it was meant for me or someone else. Anyhow, I sent you a private email message so's not to clutter up this thread too much...

Suggestion / Discovery Thread
I made a similar thread in the electronic forum, and after being helped, Equinox suggested I ask you guys in here. Im young (14) and trying to expand my musical tastes, and want to know more about Advant Garde/Expirimental.
The only bands i have heard of in this forum are the industrial ones, which i know a about because industrial music was my first true love in music. What would you recomend me to look into?

For starters, you could go w/ some of the Musique Concrète artists who were heavily influential on Industrial and Electronic music in general:
Pierre Shaeffer
Pierre Henry
Karlheinz Stockhausen
Edgard Varèse
You could also try the style very closely related to Industrial -- Noise:
Merzbow
Whitehouse
Masonna
Aube
And if that's too abrasive for you, there's always Noise-Rock:
Swans
Boredoms
Arab On Radar
Flying Luttenbachers
There are tons of other artists and styles that can be considered "Avant-Garde", but I just listed some of the more well-known artists that would probably be most to your liking as a fan of Industrial music...

Thankyou, this is great! I was getting a little bored with the usual music I listen to, and for some reason I started thinking I couldnt learn much more about music, being afan of metal, alternative, punk, industrial, and even a lttle hiphop. Then I analysed my questions of music and discovered that Im hungry for much more and that there is much more to learn. thanks again

I know, I just felt like being concise...4 examples per style...no need to overwhelm him...

Good taste for one so young!
I'll second Seba's choice of Swans, an immense band, but check out Gira's spin off band, Angels of Light, they're every bit as good.
Try some US Maple for a truly unique experimental modern rock band, they sound like no-one else around at the moment, all off-key stop/start alt-rock, like Sonic Youth being played by Beefheart. Speaking of whom...
Get Captain Beefheart's "Trout Mask Replica". It's difficult at first, but if you like industrial, you should be used to 'difficult'. After that, get "Shiny Beast", "Doc at the Radar Station" and "Lick My Decals Off, Baby". Blues, as played by an alien life-form
Try Chrome's early stuff, such as "Alien Soundtracks/Half Machine Lip Moves", guitar playing like you've never heard, mixed up with weird rhythms and tape manipulation.
Oh yeah, and get Suicide's first album, there's no way you wouldn't like that.
Hope I've been some help.
