umm well what i mean is............she was one of the first anwyay and she had a powerful voice and songs which may have inspired others (OKKKK, that was crap but anyway...)

besides grace slick was fronting the jefferson starship for a couple of years before anyone had ever heard of janis joplin hehe

That was the AIRPLANE, not the Starship. I think we all know this is one of those bands where the name really does make a difference...

And although Janis Joplin's pretty good, she's far from the Queen of Blues. Wayne to Jari's suggestions are a lot closer.
