DA OTIS - Live in London & Paris
DA OTIS was a volcanic explosion which could consume everything in sight when performing live and these two shows ( March 17 & 21, 1967) released in full for the first time show him in FULL EFFECT.
He's backed by Booker T. and the MG's and the Mar-Key horns.
On April 17th DA QUEEN's cover of Respect would be released.
On June 17th he would perform for the first time in front of a mostly white audience in the U.S. He would be backed by the same group for this performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival This earth shaking performance would put him on the world stage.
A day later DA HENDRIX would have his own well known earth shaking performance as well....which would end with him lighting his guitar on fire after pouring lighter fluid on it.
No one has come close to singing Try a Little Tenderness like DA OTIS....and there he performs it on each night's performance and at Monterey.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ddLvbCQbU4
DA OTIS would die on December 10th, 1967 in a plane crash with four members of his then backup group The Bar Kays.
As in, a little less than 7-months after this release's performances.
YO!
