Townes Van Zandt: A Far Cry From Dead
Yeah, I know, compilations suck, but I only have this, another compilation, and a live album, and they're enjoyable. Once I have more funds I'll look into his proper studio releases or at least a more comprehensive compilation.

Anyone who complained about McDowell picking up an electric obviously wasn't listening.
McDowell with the slide has to be one of the greatest sounds in the universe.

Okay, so I tend to dislike Primus, but unfortunately it took me buying 5 albums some years ago to decide that...so, I'm pulling them back out to give them another shot, which I tend to do every few months. I think I'd actually like them if it weren't for Claypools' insistence on mimicking the Residents' vocal style for nearly every track. It just makes it unlistenable for me. Yes, I suppose it's interesting hearing the Residents in a funk-metal context, and in instrumental terms they're an incredible unit together, but it's so difficult for me to look past the vocals. I've said it before and I'll say it again...if I want to listen to the Residents I'll listen to the Residents.
It just pisses me off because they could have been amazing and instead decided to go the blatant copyist route...

Ah, forget it, I can't listen to this crap. Time to put on some Residents.

Seba - the little Primus that I've heard has never seemed very interesting to me. Always just sounded like technical wanking combined with an annoying and unfunny sense of humor.
