Whenever I travel there are two poets whose works I take with me: The Songs of a Sourdough by Robert W. Service (of which I own an original 1907 first printing of the US release titled The Spell of the Yukon and Other Verses ); and a lyric book of the songs of Gordon Lightfoot.

I could never, ever believe other versions of this song. Other versions are strained, lacking the edge and tawniness of the tune. I honestly don't think that Peter, Paul, & Mary nor Elvis ever honestly philosophised that 'you can't jump a jet plane like you can a freight train.' P,P, & M's version is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Their 'For Lovin' Me' is almost as foolish.

The Zola's usual preaching of the Blues finally made me pull some out...it'd been a while.

Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam
As in the first listen and the first track is close to putting me to sleep, however, Satchmo will endeavor on. They compressed the hell out of this. The second track is slightly better and the third track is actually somewhat enjoyable for the first 1:39. On the fourth track his voice is like nails on a blackboard. It's at moments like this that having Absolute Pitch is really painful.
Not sure if I want to even go on to the 5th track....I can't take his voice and this miserable mastering much longer.
I somehow made it to the 7th track and my ears are not bleeding. Just finished the 8th track and to quote Roberto Duran.... No más!
That is the worst mastering I have had the misfourtne to hear in several years. My ears are killing me.
Unless the next record is a major improvement Satchmo is declaring Animal Collective has http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpraJYnbVtE

We both know that the only reason you don't like this album is so you can make a personal attack at me. But it's ok. I'll take the high route. Deep down I knew it would come down to this...

I know you're joking, but I will play along.
As in....
WTF?
P.S. Have you heard the album? Those live videos you posted were a lot better.

I'm a little dissapointed with the album to be honest. I like it, but its not as good as I had hoped, and I agree that the production isn't great-but I'm withholding judgement until I have a physical copy. Peacbone, For Reverand Green, and Fireworks seem to be pretty good (this is all on 1.5 listens). I think it's safe to say that Person Pitch will make it higher on my top albums list for the year...
