i have heard the freescha album and the tracks i have here aren't from that. also, this is not 'white noise' or sum punky nine inch nails rip off music. the track lengths i have are:
1:38
4:30
4:40
5:31
4:20
1:39
5:14
4:16
2:15
4:26
2:37
6:23
4:04
3:33
5:36
silence of around 1 minute
7:45 (hidden track)

ok, there's a possibility that the music here is some very, VERY, good boc wannabe band. but if it is, i hold my hands up and admit to being fooled. and i have been listening to boc since their pre-WARP days. is there anyway i can host a track so that someone can give it a listen and give their opinion?

well first of all, where did you get the album, if I may ask? If you don't want to answer it on the board, feel free to pm me. I'm curious about it.

I don't necessarily have any space to host it, but someone else may.

fake...a legit leak of the track Satellite Anthem Icarus surfaced yesterday, and it is track 3 on the LP, with a length of 6:02, and a bitrate of 192. the tag only reads "no artist - unknown track". so whatever you have, sadly, is probably not real.

another thing we'll have to compare to all the fake LPs circulating is Oscar See Through Red Eye, which will be released as an MP3 on Bleep on Monday.

and if anyone asks...the Satellite Anthem Icarus file is available at WATMM...the rush generated by it actually brought the site down for a few hours yesterday. it's also pretty heavily agreed upon by myself and everyone else that it's legit. even down to the production...

i think it's amazing...i mean, no one is going to buy The Campfire Headphase and expect Draft 7.30, so all things considered, it just sounds like Boards of Canada. which is great!

it has a very nice acoustic guitar (a la their Boom Bip remix) and some very clean bass-heavy drums (also reminiscent in the Boom Bip and Beck remixes). there are the standby mellotron flute sounds throughout, as well as a very nice Moog that sounds like something from Air's Moon Safari record. under the whole piece is the calming sound of whooshing ocean waves. it's truly heaven, crushed into a 6 minute piece.

as a Boards fan, i'd say it's not so much a lateral move, but more of a visitation to their Old Tunes-era sound...very folky and chordal and repetitive, but yet with a much cleaner production than even Geogaddi...very very slick stuff here.

i was actually talking about it yesterday with a friend of mine, about how timeless alot of the BoC music is...and that as an analogy, Boards of Canada are like a fine wine; wine will always taste like wine, but the older it gets, the better it tastes. their music will always have a degree of sameness to it, but because it's so well done, you don't want it to change, and within that scope, it gets better and better.

comparitively, i don't think a band like Autechre are timeless. to me, the difference is that they're on a timeline...what they're doing is constantly moving and growing and changing, and so alot of their music is more of an "in the moment" document of who they are, where they've been, and where they're going...whereas BoC are continually tapping into one thing that is always there, and that is the undeniable beauty of nature, love and good music.
