it went ok i guess. thanks though

i have another question for you. The kills - Monkey 23 - cant seem to figure out the tab. or to be honest, i havent given it a go, i was hoping you would . im thinking its probably some open tuning, but im not sure.

actually, if you could just figure out the tuning, i could easily do the rest myself, and i will post it here.

here you go chiva. very nice tune, very mazzy star-ish to the point i thought hope sandoval was singing hehe. the mp3 i found says it's supposed to last 3 minutes but it stops just after 2, is this right? either way here's the gist of the tune

the kills - monkey 23

standard tuning. LOTS of reverb / echo and some overdrive (just like mazzy star hehe)

e----------------------7---\5------
B----------------------7---\5------
G---4---4/6---6/7----8---\6------
D---6---6/8---8/9----9---\7------
A---7---7/9---9/10---9---\7------
E---7---7/9---9/10---7---\5------
----E-------------*----B----*------

the first chords are played with the C major shape starting with E. the slide from F# to G is more of a ghost chord (marked with the *) before quickly changing to B, same with the A before going back to E. the guitar player tends to beat on the E or B chords throughout the song

the high part around (0:53) is just a slide from A to B

B--5/7~--
G--6/8~--

that chord looks like a bitch though. cant you play it drop-d or something like that so you wont have to strech?

oh, the song is like 2:59

that first chord only looks rough it's really not that bad. just don't try to extend your index finger further than it needs to go. going to drop D would actually make it tougher to play.

the simplest way to fret it is to use the same finger shape as a barre chord but one string lower, and only use your index finger to cover the 3 high strings, fret the G and mute the B and e.

you might also want to rotate your left hand so you're at more of an angle to the neck as if you were going to use your thumb to fret the low E. i know it's not 'proper' technique to use your thumb but it worked for hendrix, and if it was good enough for hendrix it's good enough for me

this is such a good thread

would you mind if i posted more requests? that'll be it then. i must say i think these are very hard so its fine if they are not worth the effort, but there freakin awesome.

there all rl burnside tracks, news of his death rekindled interested in his music. i'm into acoustic blues if you can't tell. any of them will do, there in my music. i'm trying to tab the harp on poor black mattie but its hard work

it's all good. the requests are cool although it might take me a few days to get back to them depending on the availability of the mp3 on soulseek and how quick i can figure it out. so long as someone requests something or has a question that needs answering i'll do my best to offer some substance.
