Trip Hop for the most part is comprised of bands featuring most commonly female singers which belt out heart wrenching songs to hip hop beats (and alot of the time the beats are pretty dark or weird). Go get Portishead's self titled album and you will not only know what I mean, but love the album.

check you're pm.

edit: well never mind apparently you dont want any pm's.

yes, portishead is good, but i also suggest you check:

blue states - nothing changes under the sun
saru - downtempo dojo
massive attack - mezzanine
bowery electric - lushlife
archive - londinium
sneaker pimps - becoming x
mono - formica blues

also some good triphop moments can be found in morcheeba, bonobo, quantic and jon kennedy.
