Selected Ambient Works Vol. I & II

I really love listening to both of these albums. What are some of you're feelings on these peices of work and what are you're favorite tracks?

My top 5 between both of them would be...

Ageispolis
Hedphelym
Rhubarb
Mould
Green Calx

Personally I think the fact that it sounds old as hell is a good thing and really shows how RDJ is great at minimal composition. Ageispolis is a favorite between my freind Steve and I. He (who has more money than Jesus has love) has this silver Lexus IS300 dropped on 19"s with two 10" subs in the trunk and Ageispolis BUMPS in the trunk.

My opinion (which Josh can verify is true) states:

SAW1 = one of my favorite records to be nostalgic with.

SAW2 = my favorite electronic record of all time.

i sleep to a compilation of these tracks often, and i can narrow it down to 10 tracks as favorites.

1. stone in focus
2. lichen
3. ptolemy
4. cliffs
5. curtains
6. blue calx
7. xtal
8. parallel stripes
9. rhubarb
10. z twig

SAW 1 is what got me into ambient music in the first place. SAW 2 took a while to grow on me fully but i like it better than the first one now. it really depends on my mood though both are amazing albums.

SAW vol. 1 never really did it for me, but S.A.W 2 is one of my all time favorite ambient albums and it still holds a strange power over me. I can't put in words the effect it has.

Rhubarb is still my favorite ambient track by any artist ever.

SAW Vol. 1 was my first electronic album (the second being Venetian Snares/Speedranch - "Making Orange Things"). I still love it, it worked as a great introduction to electronic music for me. Most of the tracks on it are fairly simple in comparison to his later work. I enjoy it for that reason also, it shows how RDJ has evolved since then.

Nowadays I prefer the second volume, if only for it's atmosphere and diversity in mood.
