I wouldn't think of Zorn when it comes to electronic artists. Even if you're desperate for a Z.
TBogus:
For Masada, they're at their best live.

I have to agree, Masada's live recordings are the best - my favorite being Live in Sevilla. My favorite Masada studio album is Volume 2 - Beit.

I think you know, I meant John Zorn. After all, it was John Zorn that was being discussed.

I know, I was just trying to suggest Zorn (the electronic one) to Tom.

Has anyone heard the new(est) Zorn birthday series release? Bar Kohkba Sextet live, should be decent. I'm still trying to track down the Masada 'Sanhedrin' disc that was recently released, anyone heard it?

I was there, but haven't gotten around to listening to the recordings from those 3 nights. However, they were on fire in person.
Sanhedrin is really for the hardcore Masada fans. They are alt takes, which didn't make the cut for the original studio recordings.
The latest from the Birthday series is V.12: Zorn 50th Birthday Celebration: Painkiller.

Yeah, I didn't think that Painkiller one was out just yet, the Bar Kohkba one just came out here this week... (ah Canada) Did you get to catch the Painkiller show(s)? What was it like with the addition of Mike Patton?
