I tried to like them, but it didn't work out really well... the rythm section seems good, but in terms of melodies and singing and stuff there wasn't really anything that captured my attention

"Banquet" is their best known song, I think... and they've only released one full cd, of which I don't remember the name...

its silent alarm

and bloc party are a good band. Its nice to see talented musicians get popularity for a change that's a joke by the way.

They are really good players and they have a pretty distinct sound which i guess you either love or hate. I personally think its good. its easy to not like them if you see what i mean, but credit where credit's due silent alarm is a quality album.

me too- exactly.

ihad heard a lot about Bloc Party before iheard their music and it all sounded so promising, but when ilistened to Silent Alarm they fell far short of that promise. like Orpheus said, they do hav a great rhythm section and their all good players for that matter, but it doesnt translate into good songs unfortunately. Kele's voice can be irritating and his singing is almost always irritating. for the most part theyre juste arent any songs and when they do hava song its hardly memorable. they show flashes and a lot of skill, but there is absolutely no pay off on their debut.

They sound pretty uninteresting to me. So much so that I had to go listen to the clips again to remind myself of which replicant band from the recent wave that they were. I'll probably have to do it yet again in a few months when someone else asks about them.

It's hard for me to explain why I don't like Bloc Party. Poor singing and rather drab songs I guess.
