Wrong

Im far from disgruntled and dont watch trl, but for someone else those might be explanations. This is serious, we're talking about a new phenomenon, where the music is controlled, distorted and manipulated. It is therefore doing the same in a sense to the ones that engage in it. There is a real disconnect in this country between what is actually going on and what people think is going on, between peoples priorities and what really matters. As far as i can tell its only getting worse. But maybe its just a phase. Does anyone else out there feel me on this?

Well you're a little late to the party, but at least you've figured it out. However, this is not a "new phenomenon," unless by "new" you are referring to the last couple of decades. I agree that it is getting more blatant with each passing year. But it's really hard to notice on a day to day basis for many of us here; we are often too busy listening to better music to complain incessantly about the garbage spewed out by the four major corporations responsible for the majority of mainstream music.

i like that, ya know, i wish it'd been put to me like that earlier. first thing, yes i was in fact referring to new as the last couple decades If its getting more blatant, as you knowingly agreed, then it seems logical to say that its getting worse. Instead of ignoring it and turning a blind eye, which to me at least seems like taking the easy way out, why not do something about it? Its disgusting and it is just the tip of the iceberg of things wrong with this society. The first step is acceptance of the problem.

Revolution through what?
Boycotting the music industry?
There are far more important issues at hand than how modern music is shaping the trends of this trend dependent country.

I hoped this would be about NoMeansNo's Wrong, alas it is not. It's a great record though, one that they would never play on MTV

It's a miserable world when your horizons expand no further than top-40 radio.

I remember the last band that called themselves a "Revolution in music". Oh CKY, I wish you'd never have said that. Then I might have ignored you a little longer.

Hey if anyone wants to make a statement about the music scene, all you have to do is talk with your wallets. It sells because people buy it. Of course that is a two-way street: if you put garbage out 100% of the time, people are going to buy some of it somewhere. Then you go make more of the stuff that sold, as hastily as possible.

But if people didn't buy it, they'd stop. They's sue us first (and yes, they are at it again), but then they'd be forced to market something else. Remember when Linkin Park's debut was the number one selling pop album of the year? Remember how many of us thought that the scene had reached a low? I'd almost take that album over much of what's followed it, which indeed included another LP album.

But it's pretty damn easy to just go listen to better music. If you don't want to make statement by simply not buying shitty music, then go form a band. We don't need to organize some "OMG Stop The Horrid Music" protest group. That sounds so hippie

Its not hippie, hippies are dead. This is a different time with different dangers and different methods of action. Hippies died because the hippie culture became mainstream. They didnt change the world.
