uh... not sure what is meant.... but daydream nation, evol, and a thousand leafs are all great albums. Might I add that I love sonic youth, and thurston moore one of the most creative and innovative guitarists in alternative rock, or noise rock... how ever the guitarist for melt-banana is pretty crazy. Page alexander is pretty good too. not as good as the crazy mofo from melt-banana though.. and not as creative or interesting as thurston moore.

Part of this, is from an earlier classic Satchmo post:
Of the first five, I prefer Daydream Nation, Sister, Evol. Then from Daydream Nation until Murray Street, it's pretty much hit or miss with more misses than hits.
the keepers inbetween those two would be:
A Thousand Leaves
Dirty
Murray Street
Goo

Goo was good.. I honestly didn't care for dirty.. however one that is on my list that isn't on yours is washing machine.. which is weird, because I hated it when I first heard it (much like dirty). However washing machine grew on me... The best era is definitely 86-88 (sister, evol, daydream nation). I just really enjoyed a thoudand leaves. It kind of had a darker undertone to it. a real allen ginsburg feel through the entire album.. which was why I liked it.. and is perhaps the only Sonic youth album made in the 90's that would go in ranks with my favorites...

You can skip 5 & 6. The 5th isn't even a Sonic Youth recording. It's only Gordon and some musicians from the avant garde scene and a DJ, are in involved.
The 3rd is the first recording to include Jim O'Rourke.
It's a toss up between the first two.
The 4th was their interepation of 20th Century Classical Avant Composers. Somehow, Yoko Ono was included with John Cage, Steve Reich, etc...
