Hey, thanks man. That's exactly what I want. Just throw some artist names at me and I will try to check them out. And as I already said: "The bands you recommend don't necessarily have to be anything like those bands I've mentioned there as long as they're good."
So if you think they're good and worth giving a listen, you really should tell me. Please do so. I appreciate it so much. Thank you.

Well as I said earlier, I'm not so huge fan of B&S, so if they're like them...well I don't know. Maybe I should give them a listen anyway. Heh...now there's so much band names in the air...I have loads of listening to do. But that's what i wanted anyway, thanks.

Leonard Cohen (Anything really)
Bauhaus (Dark Entries, Dancing, Ziggy Stardust (Bowie cover), Kick in the Eye, Hair of the Dog)
The Smiths (Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me, Cemetry Gates)
Tom Waits (Telephone Call From Istanbul, All the World is Green, Singapore, Such a Scream)
Primus (Jerry was a Race Car Driver, Is it Luck?, My Name is Mud, DMV)
Grateful Dead (Anything)
Killing Joke (Bloodsport)
David Bowie (Watch that Man, Ziggy Stardust, The Man Who Sold the World)
Pere Ubu (Petrified, Life Stinks)
Joy Divsion (She's Lost Control, Love Will Tear Us Apart)
and sure why not...The Residents. Check out "Duck Stab" / "Buster and Glen"
Hell, while I'm at it you might even enjoy Swans. They're an experimental band, but for a major portion of their career they produced more melodic, accessible indie rock-sih stuff. The album "Children of God" is kind of their transition into the more melodic stuff. You may want to try that one, (songs like "In My Garden") and probably their best album in their softer era - "White Light From the Mouth of Infinity".

Yea, thank you Geryon. I'll try to check some of them out. And yea, don't look at the list too much. It's a lousy list...and I'm too lazy to make a better one. I'm sure I like atleast some of the artists you mentioned there.

they have some really amazing songs like "The Shy Retirer", "The First Big Weekend", "Screaming in the Trees" and some others, but yes they're fairly inconsistent... it helps if you're fond of the scottish accent though, I guess...
and btw, they don't sound anything like Belle & Sebastian really...
Malcolm Middleton's solo work is also really good... if you like depressed stuff high on dark humour...
might think of some more tomorrow...

Kinda depends on what ya get. For the most part it's folk rock, but his later stuff is alot darker (ie the song "Eclipse" with Diamanda Galas). Check out "Songs of Love and Hate". He's one of my favorite lyricists, and one of the few singer/songwriters that I LOVE.

Cohen's debut Songs of Leonard Cohen is really good... "Teachers" is an amazing song...
Also worth checking are Simian, their debut Chemistry Is What We Are is marvellous... the second one is only half decent... tracks to check: "You Set Off My Brain", "One Dimension", "Mr. Crow", "Over the Hill", "Round and Round", "Never Be Alone"

For sure dude, Simian is pretty ridonkolous. The second one, 'We Are Your Friends' has some righteous psychedelia. And if you're into that, check out the new Stephen Malkmus. Some others...Cato Salsa Experience, The Bingo Trappers, Clearlake's 'Cedars', Whirlwind Heat, Fruit Bats

For sure simian's debut is a cracking album. The second is pretty good too. The main single off the second, la breeze, is cracking. check out that song if not the album.
