I compose electronic music, amatuer IDM to be exact. If you dont agree on the process of making "composer music" then I'll prove you wrong.

Im under the assumption that most electronic artists make music off of a "build-rebuild better" type method, you could call it "guess and check". There are some however that compose using math and tonal structures, though, like Autechre for instance. Im a guess and check kid. I experiment with different time signatures and some times mxing them together. My favorite time signature so far is 9/8, I just find that I can make powerful beats with it. But like I said, Im just an amatuer, one with limited knowledge of music.

I sit down in front of my XP-80, relax and free my mind, and then I listen to the music that's in my head and I try to get the very same thing coming from my speakers.

I compose very simple music. I normally start with a lyric and melody and then just find the chords on the guitar that fit in. I then record a 'scratch track' using Cubase and work the song up from there piece by piece.
