Sort of depends on your definition of "great."

The site gives no examples from the book...I have no idea what the U-method could possibly mean. Sounds like it's not that serious, though.

I just use it as a platform for a studio really...since I don't use midi at all I am really just using Cubase as a glorified recorder...then again...I also add effects, edit, and pretty much mix and master everything in Cubase as well so that speaks volumes...

The U-method:

"Here's the magic: whether it's a 3-minute song or a 30-minute symphony, I can listen to a recording and then transcribe the music note-for-note. It doesn't matter how many parts there are or how many different instruments are involved."

Ha ha! Try that with Earle Brown or Richard Strauss!

There are only two real mixing progs : Cubase SX (Cubase VST sucks!) and ProTools. The rest is just shit. ProTools is the best one, but it's expensive and ugly. Cubase SX has all you need. All hail Cubase SX!

you can wire in reason, there is vst support, you can mix in 5.1 surround or something like that (in the newest version), so pretty much you can turn you're reason into something as powerful as logic or ableton. Plus its really easy for reason users to accomodate to cubase from what ive read.

I believe you now need to be boiled in your own urine for forgetting Sonar and most importantly Logic.

this is just my opinion, you're free to disagree. But these are the only two progs I've seen in all the recording studios I've visited.

To my mind, Logic is just a bad Cubase VST clone, and I've never heard about Sonar from any professional.

I have Cubase SX but I haven't installed it yet...I am essentially waiting to buy a 'stand alone' computer which won't be connected to the internet to use SX. I still use VST...and I like it a lot. It records cleanly, it is powerful, editing capability is more than I'll ever use...I see no reason why it would earn the suckage label but everyone has an opinion.
