A horrible list, especially if you consider the order of these albums. To put Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot so far down the list is insulting. And Weezer's Pinkerton above many great albums like The Strokes, XTC's Skylarking, Belle and Sebastian's If You're Feeling Sinister, and The Stone Rose's debut. Spin is just another horrible music magazine who thinks they are cool because they will put bands like The Strokes and Interpol (and where is Turn on the Bright Lights on this list? Moby and Rage Against the Machine over that, horrible list) on their covers.

Too true.
No way Hole breaks the top 100, let alone top 20.
Wrong albums at 25, 53, 55, 59, 66, and 80.
Minus points for the absence of Alice in Chains and Faith No More.
Plus points for Afghan Whigs "Gentlemen" (even if it is all the way down at 90).

It looks to me like they were just trying to play it safe and get everyone in there they could think of...there is only one Stereolab album in there (not even their best one), one Bjork (not even her best one), no Mr Bungle, and two Beastie Boys album ( but not Check Your Head). They have Superunknown but not Badmotorfinger. I could rip on this for days...

This looks more like a "Recommended list for people who were in their early-to-mid-20's when Nevermind came out." SPIN has been pandering to the lowest common denominator since they came out, and at their best were never much more than an alt-rock version of Rolling Stone. That looks to me more like a sampler than any real attempt at a list.

That list made me remember how much music from the last twenty years makes me vomit.
Siamese Dream at 41 is foolish. And speaking of the Pumpkins, where's Gish?!
