i'm actually surprised at how half-decent that list is for a super commercial one. pixies, my bloody valentine, slint, sonic youth, neutral milk hotel(even though that wouldn't go on my top 500 of the last 20 years). good additions there. of course there are a bunch of funny items on the list, and the complete absence of jazz... classical... anything other than rock and rap/hip hop.. is glaring. not as horrible as i imagined, though.

I looked at that list and I was glad I had only heard about ten of those albums becuase from the looks of it the last 20 years look terrible. No offence to anyone who likes that kind of music. It just doesn't do it for me. At least not the artists on that list.

I agree except for the fact that those lists never have all the fun genres included.

Actually, I think it's a decent pile of albums. It's just not anything close to what a rational person would consider to be the "best 100." For example, it represents 90's alt rock/pop fairly well.
I won't debate the quality of music over the last 20 years, first of all because I happen to think there was a shitload of great music. Secondly, this list is probably MISSING 100 better albums.

for one, i can't believe they mention Moby's 'everything is wrong' album and not mention Aphex Twin's 'Selected Ambient Works Vol. 1 or 2'
