metal releases you downloaded recently.

In response to the "metal releases you bought recently" thread, I have created this, less expensive version.

No need to explain this.

Recently I've grabbed a bunch of metal, much of it of the dramatic, gothic nature...some "beauty and the beast" stuff as well. I won't keep all of it, but as I don't really listen to a lot of this, I like to hear it fom time to time. Some of it I'll probably keep.

Anorexia Nervosa - Redemption Process
Sirenia - At Sixes And Sevens
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans
The Sins Of Thy Beloved - Lake Of Sorrow
Agolloch - Pale Folklore
Isis - Celestial
How Like A Winter - Beyond My Grey Wake
Mastadon - Remission

I am still going through it - some of this is definitely destined for deletion. But with all that screaming, it's a bit difficult right now to keep it all sorted as to who I liked and who I need to just get rid of

It's tough to say who I would compare them to. I mean, they are metal, and they don't offer any real surprises there. Agressive without necessarily being thrashy or brutal, and not overproduced, which is nice. I'd say if anything they are something of a displaced 80's-era band, just in terms of approach.

I do like their Leviathan album, which seems to be a concept album based on Moby Dick. I've been working out to that one recently, so I snagged Remission, which I don't quite like as much, at least on the first few listens. It might just be that I encountered this band at a time when I was most receptive to what they are playing more than they are actually some "great"" band, although they are most certainly competent. Metal is one of those genres where "eye of the beholder" seems more the rule than the exception.

Panbient, check out the tracks March of the Fire Ants or Blood and Thunder by Mastodon.

At the moment I'm really digging Blut Aus Nord; they have a ambient black metal style similar to Burzum's Det Som En Gang Var. I'd say that fans of Isis/post-rock bands will also find much to like about them.

This is the best Melodic Metal Album I've listened to since Blackwater Park

Insomnium - The Day It All Came Down

I can send it to anyone that wants it.
