why not a liam gallgher solo album?

listening to the shoddy recent oasis single, i'm still struck by what a great voice liam has - it's almost put into greater relief, the worse the material he's singing on. unfortunate side product of band-oriented indie/rock obviously being that talented individuals get lumbered with the same group of no-hopers for their entire career - wouldn't it be great if liam gallagher just delivered a solo album where numerous hip indie/rock talents of the hour each chipped in an individual track or two? i mean, in hip-hop good rappers just move from hot producer to hot producer, and producers do the same with rappers. has such a thing been attempted in the world of indie? who would you get to appear on such a record?

I don't care much for Oasis or for Liam's voice, so I don't really see the need of such an album. It's been done before yes, albums like that. Maybe not exactly in indie music, but I don't consider Oasis indie anyway. Marianne Faithfull and Nancy Sinatra are two singers who have recorded cd's with a lot of songs by other songwriters. More indie was Kings of Convenience' Erlend Øye's Unrest album where his songs were produced by different electronica producers.

I had no idea Liam Gallagher was indie. I was under the impression that Oasis was something of a popular band worldwide. I'm sure if he ever put out a solo album, it would be no worse than the music we've already heard by that band.

We may as well wish for that Scott Stapp solo record while we're at it.

(( ...and please, let's not let this discusion head towards mentioning Rob Thomas. I don't think I could take it. ))

I wouldn't listen to a Liam Gallagher solo album just because of the fact that him and Noel said they were bigger than The Beatles.
