Shemekia Copeland is my favourite of contemporary Blues ladies. Her voice is solid. Cassandra Wilson, though primarily a jazz artist, has done some very mean Blues. Uncle Irene is an all-woman Blues band; they have their moments. Little Jenny & The Blues Bean are another all-woman Blues band based out of Sweden. Little Jenny can play a pretty good 'Mississippi saxophone'. Some others: Roxy Perry, Paula Rangell, and Zola Moon (no relation).
Honestly, there is some lacking in contemporary Blues artists (dudes & chicks), but the aforementioned crew may do well to wet your mouth.
