Hi,
Could you please help me? In the bands, when the drummist does a solo, or somebody else what does it mean: a extended solo format and an interband-trading format.
Thanks a lot. D.
extended solo - is when only the drummer is playing. all the other instruments stop and leave the drummer alone to go nuts.
interband trading - is when the musicians take turns playing variations on the same rhythmic melody.
led zeppelin's 'moby dick' would have proper examples of both types of drum solos. during the beginning and end there are clear examples of bonham and page taking turns playing fills and licks respectively before bonham launches into a proper solo.

Well, I found something: an extended solo would be longer than a single and shorter than an album... anyway, I guess it's like you said and that's the way I'll do it. I am translating a very nice book about drums into Spanish, the problem is that the author uses a lot of slang and, I suppose, peculiar way of talking of drummers in the States... It's good to learn to play drums, anyway :-)
