One Hit Wonder Respect?

Every so often, me and my buddies will have the following conversation:

"you know what we should do? lets make ONE addictive song that the masses would enjoy, so we never have to worry about money again."

----

Many one-hit-wonders truely try to become musical greats,... but you cant help but wonder if there were a few one-hit-wonder bands that had the same conversation I had with my friends... and simply succeeded.

The Nightingale in me finds a strange sort of respect for all of the Sugarhill gangs out there just trying to stand tall at the summit of financial success.

It surely isn't and easy thing to do (many musicians would do this if it was).

Talented entrepreneurs or inept musicians?

i've had that same thought more than a few times (especially recently). i think of it as my family legacy that i should try living up to

just remember. one hit does NOT equal not having to worry about money ever again. it's more like you might have a full year where you don't have to spend much on anything. then again you won't really be staying anywhere long enough to really spend money.

don't let MTV cribs fool you. most musicians don't make a lot more cash than we do at menial office jobs, they just happen to have a cooler workplace.

I know the guy that wrote "Eye of the Tiger".

Lets just put it this way:

They don't have to worry about money ever again.

If I had any interest in living up to my father's musical legacy, I'd have to be one hell of a bluegrass picker, and be way more interested in Southern Rock than any one person should be.

(( I won't even think about the amount of alcohol consumption I'd have to catch up on. ))

yup my dad was a one hit wonder in 1970, and 'eye of the tiger' is a bit of an exception in terms of a one-hit wonder. being a one-hit wonder on tv or radio is one thing. being a one hit wonder who ends up being associated with one of the most popular boxing movie series ever is a completely different other thing.

What was the 1970 one-hit wonder?
