so i would have to say that i really get into second wave ska the most. my favorite bands would probably be the Specials and the (English) Beat.

Not too schooled on ska, but from what I've heard, the original stuff appeals to me much more than the other stuff. I find the British stuff annoying, and the latter stuff is polished MTV crap. Even though I'm not too informed on the genre, my keen ears can certainly recognize that No Doubt or the Mighty Mighty Boss Tones are no true ska masters.
Desmond Dekker is fuckin' cool.

I'm not very knowledgeable with Ska, or at least not yet. However, of what I have heard I would say The Skatalites.

The best ska band of ALL TIME is easily Desmond Dekker and the Aces.
But there are so many ska bands that come very close. The Specials, the Bodysnatchers, Judge Dread Etc.
