if he doesn't want pity why does he want people to understand his side of the story? why would he let someone broadcast details of his personal life on tv?

sure he went through a crappy childhood and it's affected his adult life... just like THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE REST OF THE POPULATION ON THE PLANET... the only difference is most of us learn to accept the fact that most people go through crap... and instead of using it as an excuse to not change and act like a child as an adult we use it to learn from and adapt as an adult... a crappy childhood does suck... but he's not a child anymore... he's seen how society works and he's old enough to understand how it works... no one has a choice in living within our society but everyone has a choice on how they fit it... it's not necessarily a matter of selling out to meet expectations... but at the same time if you're going to go against the grain as much as some people you need to expect different treatment from the norm...

Wow I must have missed the part in history, where you were the biggest child star around, you were beaten and bullied by your father and spent years in which you should have been developing into the man you will become in the spotlight. Micheal Jackson had nothing normal about his upbringing and early life, therefore how can you seriously expect him to have a normal adult upbringing?

A second point is, he has always been a major star* so he is surrounded (like must stars) by people licking ass and trying to get something from him, no-one in his close circle of aides, friends or staff, is going to turn round as say "Mikey you f**ked up there" It is not in there interests to do that.

He is naive and shows bad judgement, without knowing any better and having people to steer him away from trouble how on earth can he be a normal man?

Honestly, I don't like to hear about him. I'm tired of all the "Jacko is wacko" talk. The man needs therapy and some serious medication, and I'm tired of hearing about it. He doesn't deserve to be hounded by the media because he's mentally ill.
