Protools Free's Quantize

in Protools Free, it has a function called Quantize, anyone knows what it exactly does?

I tried that function after I highlighted a region. it shortened the highlighted section so that the highlighted section begun from the first sound file and ended the highlighted section at the last sound file in the region. but other than that, I don't know what else it does...

thanks.

Quantizing is putting notes closer to the beat. Drums for example are always quantized, so that the beat is very tyghtly.
I have no experience with Protools, so I can't say anything more about is.

Hope it helped.
