my friend plays an ibanez and it sounds fine but we've had to fix the part where you plug the cord in (i know theres a name for this thingy but i forget it). Someone was fucking around and twisted the thing and broke the wires off on the inside, so we borrowed a soldering from the shop teacher and fixed it up in a jiffy

I had a les paul. . . but sold it to get my Fender Jag. Best move I ever made. I also have a Tele.

...eeek...just goes to show how people's tastes differ.

I wouldn't accept TWO Fender Jags for my Les Paul...and I was thinking seriously about getting a Tele but the G&L's version of the Tele sounds SO much better and is more versatile...as Schecter's seems to be (the one with the Seymour Duncan JB and the '59 pickups).

...so now when I go to the music store and see a Tele for $1800.00+ I just chuckle...

I really like the G&L stuff. I've got an 80's G&L bass based of the P-bass, and I love it.

Well...the founder of Fender (Leo Fender) sold Fender to CBS...hence the highly coveted 'pre-CBS' Fenders. He then started another company which made guitars and sold that one...after that he wanted to have a company which made musical instruments on his own terms so he started G & L with his good friend George Fullerton. George and Leo...G & L...anyway, many of the machines that built the original Fenders (some invented by Leo) are still used on the G&L guitars (including the original spray booth 've heard).
I just won an eBay auction for a G&L Tribute Classic Telecaster...candy apple red...it looks to be a beauty and I can't wait to add it to my collection (and hear it through my tube amp!!).

I'm familiar with the epic. Just trying to specify. Some of their newer stuff has taken a different route and looks a bit different from their Fender predecessors.

Congrats on the addition to the family. I've always wanted that Telecaster sound.

SWEEEEEEEEEET!

I thought you'd be familiar with the G&L story but posted the brief outline for the many who don't know anything about the 'brand'.

Thanks for the congrats on the new one...although I will be a little aprehensive until I can actually take delivery of it...$305.00 U.S. That's CHEAP!! I will have to pay for shipping and then who knows what they'll get me with at the border for duty/broker fees but I hope it will be worth it!!

A buddy of mine in the Philly area bought a Fender Telecaster FMT (Flame Maple Top) some years back. It still had that great Tele sound, but looked out of this world. I've always kinda had my eye on one of those. Course, the bass bug is hard to shake.

fender?

well i have always been a fan of fenders, ever since i got an old ibanez strat knock off. i kinda have a little grudge against gibson. i mean gibson must have poor quality control or something because the only enjoyable les paul i have ever played was an epi standard. i guess i love the feel of the strat neck. wehn you play a fender strat or tele or whatever, it just feels right in your hands. plus... you get the pride of playing the same type of guitar jimi did... and thats reason enough to buy it. well maybe not because some famous people play kind of weird guitars sometimes. but anyways, gibsons are too heavy, overpriced, bulky, and super unconforatable. i know i already mentioned les pauls up there but that les paul, and a gibson es-335 are the only 2 gibsons ive ever enjoyed, where as fender is yet to let me down.
Listened to Red Hot Chili Peppers with Under the Bridge

I prefer Fender. I play bass, and I like Fender. I have a Washburn bass too, but that's irrelevant... But yeah. Fender!!
