Lisa Germano

I had already heard many good things about her before (I think I even downloaded some of her stuff a few years ago, although I can't remember if I actually got round to listen to stuff before some computer crash), but I only got really interested after Chiron suggested her collaboration with Giant Sand, titled OP8 and their only cd Slush (thanks again for that)...

and just now I stumbled upon a track by Hector Zazou, which is called "Indiana Moon (with Lisa Germano)"... this song is featured on the cd 'Sonori Portraits 2' or also called Strong Currents which also has contributions by Laurie Anderson, Jane Birkin and others for the vocal parts and Ryuichi Sakamoto is one of the musicians featured... anyway the track is fantastic, on the same level as OP8's "Cracklin Water" I would nearly say...
(Zazou seems some ambient-world-jazz guy... I've heard he did a cd with Sandy Dillon, who I very much like as well, although I haven't heard that particular cd yet)

anyway I've only just started downloading some of her solo stuff, and I can't wait to listen to it!

anybody else like her?

I like her way of repeating phrases, esp. with contradicting meanings, like "I love you coz, I hate you, I hate you coz I love you..." or the chorus in 'cracklin water'.

Boy, you'd really like Meatloaf.

She does it in a quirky, self-depreciating/sacrastic manner that it becomes endearing rather than uncreative as is the case with Meatloaf.
