I remember reading in this book "Hammer of the Gods" that Plant had something wrong with his throat in the early '70s, and that he had to be operated on it; between IV and Houses of the Holy, I think. I don't mind the voice he has on later albums though.

Havent heard much, but its much better than most of his (crappy) solo work... more old-zeppelin-page/plant-vibe think going..hope the entire album is as good as the little tastebud i listened to

Just got Mighty Rearranger and I must say it's a pretty good album. Normally I'm not impressed by Plant's solo work but this one I like.

Oh and I believe the problem he had with his voice was nodules on his vocal chords. I had them too and had them removed because at the time I was in broadcasting and my voice was how I made my living. My voice didn't change at all but then I don't sing, I just talk. And of course it also depends on how good you are about not talking and following doctor's orders when your vocal chords are recovering from surgery. If you don't take proper care you end up sounding like Kim Carnes.

Personally I still like Plant's voice. It's not as strong as it was when he was younger but then again his singing style was probably responsible for the nodules in the first place.

Big Zep fan, but I dont really know anything about Plant's solo career. Ive seen a couple of extremely lame 80s music videos so ive sorta written his solo career off. Im sure hes actually a lot better than he is in those videos though.
