They were a killer group, who influenced a good many groups and genres.
They are the only group which I know of, who were banned from playing live in their own hometown.
Satchmo was 19, the first time I saw them rip open the house.
Their 3 best records would be s/t, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today, and The Art of Rebellion.
YO!

I liked their first album a lot, but only spot songs from subsequent albums. "You Can't Bring Me Down", for example. I much preferred them as a punk/crossover band than the more metalish stance they took later.
hmm... I don't really find anything special about them.

Actually there is a ton special about them. Particularly the '83 s/t. The word "charming" doesn't go far enough to describe that record. Along with other west coast classic stuff like CIRCLE JERKS (esp. "Group Sex") RED KROSS, etc.., both full of humor and genuine raw power. I also recommend the NO MERCY record (with some ST members, I believe it came out in 87).
