Best Decade in Music (60s,70s,80s,90s)

I'm gonna leave out 2000-2010 becuase I dont think it would get any votes, but in your honest opinion, which decade had the best music? It's not an easy choice, but I definately like the 70s the most

You ought to include the fifties on there, maybe even the forties for some jazz (big band in particular) fans out there, but nevermind that. I'll choose the seventies, because I think that there was the widest variety of genres putting out fantastic music during that decade.

I feel tempted to say '60s (it had some of THE best music around) but my love of Hip-Hop, Noise and Extreme Metal means I have to say (and did vote for) the 1990s.

If we're talking Jazz, the 1960s easily. If we're talking rock, the '70s ruled all. Now, for Blues and Country, you've left out the best decades. For electronic music, I'd have to go with the '90s. Hip-Hop would get the '80s. Soul & R&B would be a tough decision, possibly the '60s, although the '70s had some great material as well.

Of course, you're also leaving out whole centuries of fantastic music.

I decline to chose as their was great music in all of those decades and for the rest I agree with most in Seba's post...

I've been trying for one or two years already to find what is the best decade, musically or not, and I still can't make a choice. I can choose the 70's today, the 90'S tomorow and the 60'S after tomorow.

Its very hard to think of decades as mutually exclusive, each one builds on the previous one, therefore making the most recent the best, as it includes everything that came before it.
As far as the most innovative periods, again its too hard choose, each had it's strengths and weaknesses, so i can't really decide...

Its a toss up between 60s and 70s, becuase the best music came out between 65-75 in my opinion. So either will do.

I went for the 60's. Like MC Cool, my favorite stuff came out between the years of '65 to '72ish.

i was gonna go with the 60's, but then i thought about all the crap that came out around that time. it's easy to just think about beatles and dylan and such, but the 60s was so much more.

im gonna go with the 70's.
