Well, I guess the icon to the left tells you my vote in advance...but really, I feel that the best music decade falls "between the cracks". My favorite years of music would be those between 1965 and 1975. The experimentation and creativity of the mid-to-late 60s really held on through the early 70s, with the singer-songwriter movement, the early prog bands and what-have-you.
Also, I feel that the 80s are a close second to the 60s in terms of creativity and great tunes. I have always liked a lot of the music of the 80s. One of my three favorite bands is from that era (U2). The other two fall into that 65-75 run (The Beatles and Yes, respectively).

I find these choices to be difficult to make since I find all my favorites are spread out from the 60s to today. I have to say I'm partial to music that came out between 1975 and 1985 just because that was when I was in college and learning about all forms of music and learned about some pretty great music. I discovered R.E.M. and U2 before the masses did and I thought the Talking Heads were pretty awesome.

Cos the 50's aren't included I'd go for the 70's. Offcourse there was the disco-horror, but on the other hand there was the birth of punk. Iggy and the stooges, New York Dolls, Clash, Misfits, Ramones and so on. Also the death of Elvis had some impact that decade.

Would you mean by that "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John(or Elton John in general)?

I'd like to choose 80s and 90s together... because of the ABBA, Scooter, Elton John, Queen, etc.
And also because I like the Euro-Techno, Dance, Pop style - maybe the 90s is a better choice :P
