just for the record, i agree with dprussky. you're not funny, you have a very narrow taste in music and you are the single most pompous human being ever to have posted on this forum

how the hell does Coldplay fall into any kind of 'alternative' category anyway? they're a mainstream band on a corporate label (three albums on Capitol) that would sell their collective souls to be considered indie (or maybe just Radiohead). their music gets played on the radio for god sake...
ps - i know Radiohead's on Capitol too, but it doesn't matter. they suck now too.

isuspect, some here are shying away from A Rush Of Blood becos of the more polished and crisp and bigger overall production. well, part of that is Coldplay simply getting better at their instruments- including Chris' vocals- but mostly its juste that the songs demand it. everything is bigger and stronger on A Rush of Blood. Parachutes doesnt hav anything with the edge of "Politik" or "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face". it has nothing with the rush of "Clocks" or "Daylight" or "A Whisper". certainly nothing with the sinister feel of "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" [and dont even think of sayin "Spies", cos thats a joke].
Parachutes is a very good album with a certain quiet beauty to it and its the perfect introduction to the band, but its not as great an album as A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Parachutes hinted at what they would be able to achieve on their next album, and they put it all together on A Rush Of Blood.

well, at this point I can agree with you. A rush of blood is more powerful>. I guess the reason why I like parachutes so much is because it's simple and elegant. Nothing more, nothing less. Oh, I'm glad you're not offended I know you listen to other opinions as well, sometimes.

i'm gonna have to step up and defend my fellow canadian (even though he's quite capable of it himself) humor is far too subjective and a bitch to get across properly online (with occassional exceptions). as for a narrow taste i'd disagree, while chris may not bounce between genres as much as others he's already proven to be quite well rounded when it comes to current rock music (from the 80s up). while he may be one of the more opinionated members still currently posting i've seen some bigger heads than his on these boards in the past. (not by much mind you )
