Arrow Top 10 Albums 2000-2004

There's been an unbelievable amount of great music released in just the first 5 years of this decade, once you really think about it, so which 10 releases do you consider to be the best of the lot? Try to stick to new releases, no reissues or compilations.

Choosing 10 is almost impossible, I know, but that's what makes the thread more interesting, and challenging.

Mine:

01. Ruins (( Live At Kichijoji Mandala II )) [2000]
02. Matmos (( The Civil War )) [2003]
03. Erik Friedlander (( Maldoror )) [2003]
04. Supersilent (( 6 )) [2003]
05. Alamaailman Vasarat (( Käärmelautakunta)) [2003]
06. Cinematic Orchestra (( Everyday)) [2002]
07. Meshuggah (( Nothing)) [2002]
08. Sylvie Courvoisier (( Abaton)) [2003]
09. The Tiger Lillies (( The Gorey End)) [2003]
10. Ephel Duath (( The Painters Pallette)) [2003]

It seems to me that the best music so far this decade happened in 2003. I could probably have done a Top 20-30 thread just for that year alone!

Come on, it's been 3 hours already.

If no one else posts, I'm going to do another set of 10.

Interesting list. The first one was predictable, but didn't you just discover Supersilent?

Supersilent sometime last year I believe. Cinematic Orchestra very recently, both through Equinox's suggestions.

I didn't say anything about "no recent favorites allowed" did I? There is probably an album that I haven't heard yet from 2000-2004 that I'd want on that list as well. You've never experienced love at first listen?

3. Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
4. US Maple - Acre Thrills
5. Foetus - Flow

ican giv you my #1 forsure, but then it juste gets too difficult. there hav been so many albums in the past five years that ive lovd- id really hav to think about it. maybe iwill think about it, but rightnow its too staggering. probably best to do up a top10 or 20 for each year and then go from there.

#1 Radiohead, Kid A [2000]
#2-10 yet to be decided...
