How can you say that they don't try? I don't see what relevence that has anyway, Ann Peebles' voice, for example, came totally naturally, wheras Sinatra (I believe) took lessons all his life. Didn't make the music any better though.

It could have.

Sinatra might of had a really crappy voice and may not have been able sing songs the way he did. It could have inflenced him in to doing other things too.

Yes, sorry. It improves the music. What I meant to say was should it take anything away from the music itself if the artist needs practice or not?

I think if an artist can produce good music, then they are doing a good job no matter how much practise they get. I think it's just a bonus if people can do it well without spending time taking lessons.

So no, I don't think it takes anything away from the music if an artist needs practise. It just means they are really into the music and really want to do well.

Of course if an artist needs practise and they sound shit then you could say that's a waste of time but that goes with anything.

I didn't say they didn't try. Just that they probably weren't the hardest working performers in the industry.

And on practice adding or... subtracting (i guess ) from the music, for a composer, practice on an instrument isn't essential, but for performers, of course it would take away from the music! It's just like picking up a cricket bat after a year without playing and going out onto the field and facing Bret Lee (). You'd screw up for sure.

Talking about Brett Lee, he got a hit trick today!

I think he may have broken some guy's arm as well!
