Spear Of Destiny - Punk & Alive!!
IS PUNK DEAD ? seems to be the subject of much debate on this forum.
It's NOT !
PUNK or POST PUNK (take your pick)
.. SPEAR are Rocking round the UK next month with a mix of old classics & the gritty powerful thumping New tracks from their aclaimed new album 'Loadestone',
still creating great music with a political anti-establishment edge to the lyrics.
There is still much that's wrong in the world today as there was in the late 70's early 80's , giving plenty of ammo to the lyricists of many bands emerging in the last few years.
What matters is that there still many bands out there, old and new, who strive against all odds to keep creating the music. For that alone- 'PUNK IS NOT DEAD' !
nor is it dying, it's very much ALIVE.
You just gotta know where it's at.
Spear Of Destiny (with Kirk Brandon, Derek Forbes-Simple Minds, Chris Bell & Steve Harris- Gary Numan) are appearing at the following venues...
18 May Bristol Fleece & Firkin
20 May Doncaster The Leopard

25 May Leicester Charlotte
26 May Cleethorpes Winter Gardens

3 Jun Aberdeen Kef
5 Jun Sheffield Boardwalk
6 Jun Glasgow King Tuts

10 Jun Nottingham Junktion7
If your feeling nostalgic, curious or just want to experience real music from a great punk rock band... you shouldn't miss seeing Spear on tour.
ticket prices 6-10 quid depending on venues....
.....let the debate continue....
and if you do come to the shows - post your opinions on this thread-

Wonder if that was Kirk Brandon himself, spamming the forum?
Spear of Destiny were pretty bloody awful, but Theatre of Hates were one of the better, long fogotten post-punk bands of that era.

No it wasn't KB,
But you're right, Theatre Of Hate were better in their hayday, than Spear were in theirs, and the songs still get requested and played on tour nowadays too.
Lost count how many times Liberator gets aired.
The new stuff has more in common with TOH days than Spear mid-late 80's, which could be why it's getting great reviews from 'almost' all who've heard it.
tour dates were posted for anyone that may be interested- attendance ain't compulsory.
It's not spamming, It's a forum - for discussions, hence am discussing....
Pskotik, In Transit, Age Of Unreason are worth a listening too, remenicences of the heady days of TOH imho.
and just on general theme of the music, many of the musicians of the Punk Bands are still in the business of making music in one capacity or another and some still performing live, ie Sex Pistols original lineup
Mick Jones, Topper etc from Clash ... so Punk Rock is not deceased, just evolving.
